The city of Wolfratshausen has a new culture manager.

He is already well known.

Wolfratshausen – The city has a new culture manager.

He is already well known and well connected: Andreas Kutter has been "the right and left hand of cultural manager Marlene Schretzenmaier" since October 2019, said Wolfratshausen Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner on Friday at the official presentation of her successor.

As reported, Schretzenmaier surprisingly quit her job in August of this year.

According to the head of the town hall, there were 40 external applicants for the position in the city marketing department.

One came from their own house.

The mayor invited eight applicants to an interview. In a non-public meeting, the members of the main committee of the city council decided in favor of Andreas Kutter.

"And very clearly," says Heilinglechner.

Virtuoso on the piano, bad on the trombone

The 38-year-old new culture manager was born in Buchloe in the Allgäu, studied English and history to become a teacher, passed his first state exam and started as a teacher.

"But that wasn't my path," revealed Kutter on Friday.

He decided to study for a second time – leisure and tourism management in the Hanseatic city of Stralsund (Mecklenburg-West Pomerania).

At the same time, he organized private cultural events and played in various bands ("I'm a rock-pop-jazzer").

In his own words, he elicits euphonious tones from the piano, and he also plays the trombone – “but badly”.

Looking at his CV and the past three years at Schretzenmaier's side, Kutter emphatically states: "I know what I'm talking about."

We do not organize an event program for Munich residents.

He "enjoys his work", says the 38-year-old, "and this fun should be carried over to the events".

New brooms sweep well, but tried-and-tested ones don't have to be thrown overboard without good reason.

Kutter wants to build on the work of his predecessor, sticking to small, fine concerts just as much as to major events such as the river festival and the Wirtefest.

He also focuses on "events for children and families".

Mayor Heilinglechner emphasized that the city "organizes no program of events for the people of Munich".

The money of the Wolfratshausen taxpayer is invested – ergo it is primarily the taxpayer who has to benefit from the local offer.

Kutter is connected to the city council's culture officer, Sepp Schwarzenbach, via a dedicated line.

"There is a direct line", the vote is "close".

For the cultural manager, who lives in the Giesing district of Munich, it is important to close ranks with the Wolfratshausen associations.

Whether it's the Isar-Loisach cultural association or the Loisachtal farmer's stage: "In the past few weeks I've spoken to representatives of around 30 associations." Their wishes to reconcile those of the 25-strong city council, the cultural officer of the committee and the citizens, this balancing act dares Kutter.

"There's a lot to do," he says, hinting at "new inspirations."

"We have a large repertoire, a wide range of different cultural events," said the head of the town hall, Heilinglechner.

"We want to continue that, but also develop it further." (cce)
