Dog grandpa Effe was longingly waiting for a new owner in the Nuremberg animal shelter.

Now the Kangal shepherd dog died as a result of a torsion in the stomach.

Nürnberg - Hundegrandpa Effe had a real fighting heart.

In the summer, the Kangal shepherd dog from the animal shelter in Nuremberg won the fight against a spleen tumor.

It was his great wish and that of his keepers to be able to leave the shelter again - to a new owner.

However, the four-legged friend is denied this wish.

As the Nuremberg animal shelter announced on Instagram, Effe died on Sunday (November 13th).

Animal shelter Nuremberg: Kangal Effe dies as a result of a torsion in the stomach

"We wished for nothing more than that you could leave the shelter alive again.

Unfortunately, the worst case happened today and you didn't make it anymore," wrote the Nuremberg animal shelter.

Effe died as a result of a torsion in the stomach.

But here, too, Effe fought to the end.

He survived the emergency surgery in the veterinary clinic, but the dog couldn't survive the bleeding the following morning.

In June 2021, the Kangal grandpa came to the Nuremberg animal shelter.

A new owner has not been found since then.

"We tried everything to find a home for you, unfortunately we didn't make it," the shelter regretted on Instagram.

There were repeated "declarations of love" for the dog in the comments on the shelter's social media posts, but a new owner could not be found.

Effe was considered a dog who loved people, enjoyed their attention and enjoyed cuddling.

One of his feet was crippled in an accident, but this did not limit his everyday life.

He got along well with other dogs depending on his sympathy, he also liked horses.

He didn't like cats at all.

The shelter's post on Effe's death has been liked over 1,300 times on Instagram.

Many users reacted with a sad, crying emoji in the total of 91 comments.

"Take care, Effe," wrote one user, for example.

The shelter in Bayreuth also expressed its condolences over the loss of her colleagues: "Run free, Effe.

We feel for you." (
