– On Tuesday afternoon, students and parents had a great opportunity to make contact with training companies and private and state schools.

90 exhibitors came to the Kastulus-Realschule and provided comprehensive and uncomplicated information about the opportunities offered to young people after school.

And the great thing, especially for the young people who don't yet know where the path will lead them: There were also many trainees who were able to report first-hand.

For example, Tanja Sellmaier and Marlene Moosburger, who are completing their training as chemical laboratory assistants in a laboratory group for environmental, water, agricultural, animal feed and food analysis.

How did this happen?

"I enjoyed chemistry at school," says Marlene Moosburger, which is why she started at Agrolab Labor GmbH.

Her colleague Tanja Sellmaier had no chemistry at school, but her family made her aware of this profession.

Both are now in their third year of training - and both of them "a lot of fun", as the interested visitors found out.

Many interested young people came to the careers information day, which the chairperson of the parents' council, Ulrike Reichelt, organized again this year - to the delight of headmaster Wolfgang Korn (l.).

Stephan Scheler from the Federal Police also answered many questions that afternoon.

The students were very interested in the fact that applicants for the Federal Police must be physically fit and have the swimming badge in bronze, must not have any visible tattoos, the training lasts 2.5 years and the largest training center is in Bamberg.

There was also a lot that was new to learn in the social professions - for example that you can train as a nursing specialist from the age of 16 (no longer 17 years), the new general nursing training introduced on January 1, 2020, the job profiles nursing, children's nursing and Elderly care combines and this offers many more opportunities after the three-year training.

Anyone who was more interested in manual trades was also in the right place: many training companies in the region advertised for car and tool mechanics, gardeners, bakers and Co.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In general, the offer was wide-ranging.

And for the young people there was a unique opportunity to “establish contact with the world of work early on and in an informal manner”, as the chairwoman of the parents' council, Ulrike Reichelt, who organized the career information day for the sixth time, emphasized at the opening.

Her appeal to young people: "Seize the opportunity - and use the opportunity to do internships." Headmaster Wolfgang Korn also finds it "important to get a taste of the world of work".

The start for this was made on Tuesday.
