Japan and the United States conducted a joint military exercise over the Sea of Japan on Friday following the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from North Korea, the Japanese defense ministry said.

The military maneuvers by Japan and the United States took place following the North Korean fire "in an increasingly difficult security environment around Japan", said the Ministry of Defense in a press release.
