Swedish security confirmed that investigations into the explosions in the pipelines of the Northern Stream gas line showed that it was a sabotage operation, and significant damage to the pipelines was documented as a result.
The Swedish security said in a statement today, reported by Sputnik agency: “The investigation revealed that the pipelines were subjected to severe sabotage.” The Russian General Prosecutor’s Office opened a case related to an international terrorist act following the damage to the gas pipelines.
It is noteworthy that three lines of the northern stream system located in the economic waters of Denmark and Sweden were damaged as a result of the sabotage targeting, and only one line (of the second branch of the northern stream line 2) remained without damage.
The attacks that targeted the two lines of the northern stream for exporting Russian gas to Europe took place on the 26th of last September, and the authorities in Germany, Sweden and Denmark said: They do not rule out that what happened was deliberate sabotage.
