As-Suwayda - SANA

The “Illuminations of Thought” Foundation and the “Zero Point” Center, in cooperation with the As-Suwayda Governorate Council and the Directorate of Education, honored the winners of the speed-reading competition at the Syrian level among the residents of the governorate, which was held under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.

The honoring ceremony, which was held at the stage of the Directorate of Education in As-Suwayda, included the presentation of practical statements by the winning students that reflect their skills in speed reading, and musical and lyrical paragraphs presented by students of the Fahd Ballan Institute for Arabic Music, under the supervision of the artist Adham Ezzqoul.

Bassem Hatoum, a member of the executive office of the provincial council for the culture sector, pointed out in a statement to SANA reporter the importance of enhancing speed reading skills, especially in the era of large information flow, as the concept of speed reading emerged as one of the most important ways to respond to this amount of information.

Buthaina al-Halabi, a member of the executive office of the provincial council for the education sector, pointed out the importance of providing all forms of support for speed-reading competitions, which raise reading speed rates without affecting understanding, and allow reading a large material in a short period of time.

The supervisor of the speed-reading program in Syria and the director of the Thought Illuminations Foundation, Eng. Nuzha al-Yamani, explained that the speed-reading program was launched about four years ago, and the number of students participating in the speed-reading competition increased from 25 male and female students in the first season, to 6,000 students who participated in the year’s competition. The program is under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, indicating that the program includes four levels, including the zero level in reading, children, adolescents, adults and university students.

The Director of the Zero Point Center for Languages, Training and Rehabilitation, Catherine Heneidy, indicated that the center is keen to support all initiatives aimed at developing the skills of our students, especially the speed reading skill, which opens wide doors for the reader to knowledge and achievement, and increases the efficiency of time investment while ensuring the acquisition of the greatest amount of knowledge. And see.
