Luis Enrique Martínez, better known only as Luis Enrique, will be in charge of leading the Spanish soccer team in Qatar 2022.

With a team that combines the seniority of players like Sergio Busquets (34 years) and Jordi Alba (33) along with the freshness of youngsters like Pedri (19) and Gavi (18), Luis Enrique will seek to return Spain to the top of the football for men's national teams, a position he held unquestionably between 2008 and 2012, when he won two Euro Cups and one World Cup in a span of four years.

Luis Enrique returned to the national team at the end of 2019 after leaving the position of technical director months ago for personal reasons.

His first stage at the head of the national team had begun in 2018.

Spain qualified directly for Qatar 2022 after winning their European qualifying group with 19 points in 8 games played (6 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss).

In addition to qualifying for the World Cup, Luis Enrique's greatest achievement as head of the team has been reaching the final of the UEFA Nations League in 2021, an official tournament played by the best teams in Europe.

The Spanish team faced France for the title, after beating Italy, current Eurocup champion, in the semifinals.

In the end the victory was for the Gauls, with a score of 2-1.

"There is no better coach than me," he said, when announcing his list of summoned to Qatar 2022.

A journalist asked the DT in the red if he had doubts about his suitability for the position after the presentation of those summoned to Qatar, and Luis Enrique was dispatched with an ironic response that, as he himself predicted, became the headline.

"I am the best coach there can be on the face of the earth. Without a doubt," he said, and made the very logical reasoning that he cannot have doubts because he must transmit the ideas to the players.

"There is no better coach than me in the history of world football. That is what I believe. Then another thing is that it is a reality, which obviously is not true, but I believe it," he finished.
