The Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad, and Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Muhammad Hassan Qatana, briefed today on the reality of the rehabilitation of pumping stations and irrigation networks in the Government Irrigation Sector Seven Project, and the Al-Jalaa Center for Date Palm Propagation in the Al-Bukamal region in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The Minister of Water Resources explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the aim of the tour is to track the works in the project to rehabilitate the seventh sector for government irrigation, which is an important vital project that irrigate more than 7,500 hectares of agricultural lands in Albukamal countryside, pointing out that the work in the project is proceeding according to a specific timetable. It is planned to be put into trial operation, so that farmers can benefit from irrigation water during the winter season.

Minister Raad explained that three engines have been installed and that the rest of the equipment is on the site. Work is underway to install them in parallel with the works of rehabilitating and preparing the canals, so that the project will be ready for work in the second half of next month.

In turn, the Minister of Agriculture called on farmers to prepare their lands to benefit from irrigation water in the Seventh Sector project and prepare them for planting winter crops, indicating that the production requirements for the next agricultural season are available.

Regarding the Al-Jalaa Center for palm propagation and mothers, Minister Kattana stated that the center is characterized by the presence of many local and imported varieties, and a time plan has been drawn up and the funds necessary for its rehabilitation have been provided at a value of one billion and 300 million pounds, because of its great importance in the field of developing palm cultivation in

Syria, where he will work to secure the necessary seedlings for farmers, and palm groves in the Palmyra region and the rest of the provinces.
