53 meters high: New mobile phone mast is to be erected in Iffeldorf

Iffeldorf – The issue of mobile phone expansion is polarizing: In Iffeldorf, the municipal council voted unanimously for Vodafone's building application to erect a 53 meter high mobile phone mast.

“The mast will protrude a good 20 meters above the forest.

That's quite a bit," Mayor Hans Lang (SPD) points out at the municipal council meeting.

In order to improve the mobile network and accessibility in the community area, a "40 to 50 meter high mast" was originally intended.

With the foundation, however, the current plan is 53 meters.

According to the head of the town hall, parts of the A95 are also supplied by the mast.

The Vodafone tower is to be erected 300 meters in the forest in the Staltach district of Iffeldorf.

According to Lang, the radio mast should not be visible from the street.

At the request of the municipality, the provider announced that other companies could also access the infrastructure.

Green light in the district office?

"The technical authorities have not expressed any concerns," said Lang.

The Iffeldorf municipal council was therefore certain that the Weilheim-Schongau district office would approve the project.

The community would also benefit from better accessibility to the building yard.

When working in the peat plant, those responsible could only rarely be reached due to a lack of network coverage.

For Tobias Färber (PWG) it would be the "ideal location" for the cell phone mast.

Andreas Ludewig (UWÖ) wanted to know whether "the inner-city mobile phone mast would be replaced by it".

The municipality now wants to pursue this suggestion and ask Vodafone whether the company's own inner-city mobile phone mast will become obsolete.

This is attached to a private house in the Hofmark and, according to Lang, is around five meters high.

In the end, the Iffeldorf committee unanimously decided in favor of the location in the peat plant area and the building application from Vodafone.
