After organizations on campus forbade their speakers from supporting the statement in Israel, attorneys Groysman and Ostrovsky contacted the human rights department of the Federal Ministry of Education.

The war against the boycott organizations operating in US universities continues:

the first official complaint has been filed against the University of Berkeley for the decision of nine student organizations at the academic institution to prohibit speakers from expressing support for Zionism or the State of Israel. It was initiated by the Jewish lawyer from Florida Gabriel Groysman and the Israeli lawyer Arsen Ostrovsky, who heads the "International Legal Forum".

According to the complaint, the regulations of the student organizations, which include the section that prohibits speakers from expressing support for Zionism or Israel, constitute "deep and deep-rooted anti-Semitic discrimination against Jewish students, faculty members and staff members at the University of Berkeley Law School."

It is worth noting that this is not a marginal academic institution - Berkeley is the flagship of the public university system of California, and is regularly placed at the top of the rankings of the best universities in the US and in the world. At the same time, it is known as a center of the progressive left in the US and a hotbed of anti-Semitic ideas On this side of the political map.

However, it is important to emphasize that this is not a decision of the university itself, but an initiative of nine of the more than 90 student organizations in its law school.

The complaint filed is based on Section 5 of the American Human Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits institutions that receive federal funding from discriminating on the basis of race, color and national origin.

The complainants are asking the Department of Human Rights of the US Department of Education to open an investigation against UC Berkeley Law School, order it to immediately rescind the discriminatory regulations and take additional steps to correct the situation.

"We cannot sit idly by while Jewish students are discriminated against at UC Berkeley Law School," Groysman and Ostrovsky wrote.

"The groups that implemented this discriminatory policy are trying to hide the discrimination they use against the Jewish community by excluding 'Zionists.'
