"The announcement, which is of an important declarative nature, includes condemnation of acts of discrimination based on the origin of Israeli-Americans, as well as the increase in anti-Semitic incidents against them and against the entire Jewish community in the United States," the Israeli-American community organization said

A first of its kind initiative to recognize the unique contribution of the Israeli-American Community Organization (IAC) was submitted last Thursday to the US Senate by Democratic Senator Jackie Rosen of Nevada and Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, who together head the bipartisan lobby for Jewish-Black relations.

The umbrella organization of the Israeli-American community (IAC), considered in recent years to be the fastest growing Jewish organization in North America, praised the move and noted that the initiative reflects the recognition of the community's contribution throughout the United States.

"The declaration, which is of an important declarative nature, includes condemnation of acts of discrimination based on the origin of Israeli-Americans, as well as the increase in anti-Semitic incidents against them and against the entire Jewish community in the United States. The declaration was worked on together with Senators Scott and Rosen, the IAC for Action organization, The sister organization of the Israeli-American community, the Trust for Policy and Legislation," said Ma

According to various estimates, the Israeli-American community currently numbers over 800,000 people, and the wording of the statement initiated by the senator, which will receive symbolic legislative status if passed, will be the first event of its kind that recognizes the unique role of Israeli-Americans as a living bridge between American Jews and Israelis in Israel.

The text submitted by the two senators describes the Israeli Americans as "a vigorous immigrant community, with values that push its members to contribute significantly to the well-being and diversity of the United States."

In fact, the draft version of the declaration acknowledges the many levels in which the community contributes to American life, and according to the IAC "cherishes the Israeli-American heritage as one that helps strengthen the United States' relationship with Israel."

Among other things, Rosen and Scott's announcement details the community's contribution in the fields of medical sciences, pharma, humanitarian aid in emergency situations, astrophysics, mathematics, chemistry, aeronautical engineering, biotechnology, agriculture and Internet technologies.

Beyond that, she salutes the activity of American Jews in general, and members of the Israeli-American community in particular, in promoting civil rights, equality, justice and protection for all - and especially for the most disadvantaged sections of the population.

The declaration "condemns any form of anti-Semitism, discrimination and violence aimed at marginalizing and denying the rights of members of the Israeli-American community, the wider Jewish community and any person of Israeli or Jewish origin;

or violate the ability of American Israelis or other individuals to celebrate their Israeli-American heritage and deep connection to Israel.'

"As the third Jewish woman ever to serve in the US Senate, I am proud to help submit this proclamation to honor the culture and heritage of Israeli-Americans.

At a time of rising anti-Semitism affecting Israeli-Americans, this proclamation recognizes their contribution to the United States and condemns all forms of hatred and discrimination, noted Senator Rosen.

As mentioned, in addition to the recognition of the community, the announcement, which is led by Rosen and Scott, also goes against the "wave of anti-Semitism" which includes attacks and acts of bullying against Jews throughout the United States, including Israeli-Americans, with an emphasis on incidents against young people of school age or university students.

According to Senator Rosen, these are "attacks at a critical time against Israeli-Americans and members of the pro-Israel community, who are suffering from a record number of attacks against them because of their origin." Senator Scott said: "It particularly pains me to see the Jewish community, including Israeli-Americans, attacked and are discriminated against based on their origin by members of the BDS movement.

This hatred and prejudice has no place in the United States.

The Israeli-American Community Organization (IAC) welcomed the announcement that was placed on the agenda: "We are full of gratitude and appreciation for bringing the important announcement before the Senate, and are proud that our community and our contribution to the United States, receive this kind of recognition and appreciation alongside the condemnation against the anti-Semitic attacks against the Israeli and Jewish community- American in the days when it grew at a very fast and alarming rate.

Full disclosure: The Adelson family is the owner of the company that owns "Israel Hayom" shares and is a major contributor to the IAC organization.
