Königsdorf – For the 20th time, the children and youth development association in Königsdorf (JFK) organized a St. Martin star procession.

What was special was that three trains set off and met at St. Laurentius parish church to celebrate St. Martin there.

In the service, the story was told with the message - to share with the poor.

When asked, JFK Chairman Hanspeter Schön reported that the children couldn't wait to go and experience the story of St. Martin on site.

The train started from three directions (Osterhofen, Oberdorf, Roßmoosweg).

The route ran in a star shape and the lantern processions with the singing children all ended at the St. Laurentius parish church in Königsdorf.

There they celebrated a joint service with their brightly lit lanterns with a special atmosphere.

"At the same time, a real St. Martin with a horse was waiting outside," said the chairman.

When asked why a service was celebrated in comparison to other St. Martin processions, Schön replied: "The church is the ideal place to celebrate a saint and his deeds."

After the service, the procession continued to the ice rink, where the freezing beggar, who had lit a small fire to protect himself from the cold, was already waiting.

To the sounds of St. Martin's songs, which the young wind players of the Königsdorf brass band performed solemnly, St. Martin parted his coat from the horse in order to throw it to the poor beggar.

While the beggar sat down again by the fire, the saint rode into the darkness.

The Martins celebrations on the ice rink ended with the song “Love one another, help one another, share your bread with one another”.

At the end of the day, every child - and many adults as well - received a Martin's cookie baked by the local bakery from the Königsdorf children's and youth development association.

A total of 350 place packs were put together.

With around 470 participants, some participants took the opportunity to share fairly with others.
