Modernity and Authenticity at Ornina Art Exhibition in Old Homs

Homs, SANA- The Ornina Forum for Culture and Arts chose the hall of the ancient Margorgos Church in Al-Hamidiyah neighborhood in the center of Homs.

The Ornina Forum for Culture and Arts chose the hall of the ancient church of Margorgos in the Al-Hamidiyah neighborhood in the old center of Homs to hold a plastic arts exhibition for amateurs and professionals.

The artistic and color styles varied in the paintings of the participants in the exhibition, which witnessed a wide presence from various cultural, social and religious events.

Regarding the exhibition and the purpose of holding it in this place, Raymond Kaproun, the director of the forum, explained in an interview with SANA reporter that “Ornina” invested young talents, along with large plastic artists, to hold the exhibition, in which forty-four male and female artists from different Syrian governorates and Lebanon participate, embodying in their works the various manifestations of situations. Humanity and existentialism with feelings of yearning for the most beautiful future and victory over all that is dark with feather and color.

In turn, the pastor of the church, Father Mikhail Rabahiya, pointed out that the exhibition is part of the revitalization of the cultural movement in archaeological sites of a historical and religious nature, describing it as a successful experience in terms of the diversity of artistic schools compatible with all tastes and in terms of the heavy attendance of the exhibition from various segments, which paves the way for the establishment of cultural activities in the future.

The Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Homs, Georges Abu Zakhem, described the exhibition as beautiful, because it expresses sentimental feelings that paint hope and herald a better future with creative fingers, young and old.

The plastic artist Jamal Ismail, one of the supervisors of the exhibition, who is participating in three paintings in which he relied on the realistic style through the mixture of the spring and autumn seasons and the idea of ​​promoting culture through music and various arts. Their outstanding creations to the audience on the other hand.

The plastic artist Nidal Ibrahim, director of the “Color and Feather” studio, who is participating with a group of his students with paintings in the exhibition, said that this event is a distinguished cultural initiative for young artists, and Homs is rich in people like them, which constitutes an incentive to develop their talents and encourage them to participate in upcoming exhibitions.

Visual artist Nasr Suleiman, who is participating in four paintings using the technique of burning on wood, expressed his happiness to participate in the exhibition, which constitutes an opportunity to introduce this type of plastic art that requires patience and accuracy in designing paintings that deal with topics that call for the dissemination of culture, hope and action.

From Lattakia, the plastic artist Shiraz Darwish participated in two paintings in acrylic colors that express the plurality of personalities in one character, expressing her happiness to participate in the exhibition, which constitutes a kind of social communication with artists from different provinces, and to learn about their methods and their development, which enriches culture and thought.

The young woman, Zina Abdullah, is participating in the exhibition with a painting about the Bedouin folk woman embracing the oud instrument, while the young woman, Lara Kagan, is participating with a painting that embodies the meaning of motherhood, and the young Ghadir Hasan with a sad painting entitled Resting a Female Musician, and the young woman, Ghazal Khalil, with two paintings that reflect sadness and hope in the multiple faces of the female, and the child, Aya Ibrahim. With a painting embodying the suffering of a mother and her sacrifices in order to make her children happy, and the young woman Ghazal Ibrahim with a painting entitled Regret through a female face immersed in details.
