Today, the Homs City Council, in cooperation with the Homs Cultural Space team, inaugurated the (Garden Theater) project, within the Childhood Park in the Al-Walid suburb neighborhood in Homs.
The garden, whose rehabilitation was completed last year with the efforts of the Homs Cultural Space Team and the civil society, in cooperation with the Homs City Council within the initiative (Homs, O House of Peace), today hosted the opening ceremony, which included musical compositions and a variety of turquoise and tarabiyat, performed by the band (Nawa Athr) and performed by The young talent, Noshik Klenjian, in addition to theatrical scenes of the Workers' Theater troupe, reflecting realistic scenes from life.
The artist and theater director, Samer Abu Laila, director of the Homs Cultural Space Project, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the Garden Theater represents the third phase of the project (Homs, Dar Al-Salam), which began in 2018 under the name of Homs Al-Adia Gardens, to transform neglected dirt spaces into gardens, and then a stage (Homs). Ya Dar al-Salam 1), which included allocating a garden for children, rehabilitating it with benches, and decorating it with sculptures and wall paintings.
Abu Laila explained that the park's theater includes an open-air theater platform, spaces for audience seating, and wall paintings that reflect theatrical ideas and embody the international and Syrian founders of theatre, pointing out that the park was decorated with trees, basins, and roses, with the efforts of volunteers from the people.
Engineer Abdullah Al-Bawab, Head of Homs City Council, stated that the council provided the necessary mechanisms to rehabilitate the park and the facilities to complete the project, pointing to its importance in promoting culture and devoting the role of civil society by attracting youth, adolescents and children, so that the project becomes an activity center that embraces artistic, civil and awareness initiatives in the future.
A number of parents expressed their happiness with the creation of an open-air theater with voluntary efforts to embrace children's activities and civil initiatives that are beneficial to society.
