The police have arrested in Brussels the third alleged perpetrator of the murder of an employee in a bingo hall in Tortosa (Tarragona) last September.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have reported the arrest, for which they appreciate the work of the National Police and the Brussels police.

The arrest was made thanks to the European Network for the Active Search for Fugitives (ENFAST).

The event took place on September 19, shortly before one in the morning, when three men entered the Tortosa bingo hall and seriously injured a worker and one of the local customers, shooting them with small arms.

After the robbery, the two victims were transferred to a hospital in Tortosa, where the employee died shortly after.

One of the three men, aged 22, fled Spain via France and ended up in Brussels, where he has finally been arrested.

He is considered the material author of the shots.

Initially, a joint operation between the Catalan police and the National Police arrested five people and three of them (aged 20, 21 and 22) were released after going to court.

Among the suspects there were two brothers (the eldest is the one arrested in Brussels) and a woman.

This 35-year-old woman is currently in prison and her younger brother is in a juvenile center, where she was admitted at the proposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office in the framework of the case opened for the crimes of murder, attempted murder, possession illegal weapons and attempted robbery with a dangerous instrument.

The days after the event it emerged that a judge from Tudela (Navarra) and the Civil Guard and also the National Police were investigating the robbers who allegedly killed a woman who worked in the bingo hall in Tortosa for a previous assault.

In the case of Tortosa, the investigations initially suffered from an alleged police lack of coordination.

In September, when the murder of the bingo hall employee in Tortosa occurred, the National Police, which was also following in the footsteps of the gang of robbers, went to the Mossos d'Esquadra and provided the information they had on the suspects.

The two police officers formed a team and waited for the suspects to arrive to arrest the five people.

The Civil Guard, which was investigating by order of the Tudela court, also contacted the Catalan police, but did so later,
