Lovers of the art of Arabic calligraphy celebrated this evening the launch of the activities of the Festival of Love of Pen 3, which is being held by the House of Arabic Calligraphy and Arts Association, in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture of Damascus, at the Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh.

The launch of the festival came through an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy teachers and artists, which included approximately 50 works, with the participation of 21 male and female artists from various Syrian governorates, and with several techniques and methods in the arts of calligraphy, decoration and calligraphic paintings.

Regarding the festival, plastic artist Reem Qabtan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the House of Arabic Calligraphy and Arts Association, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the Mohabbat Qalam Festival, in its third session, is dedicated as one of the annual activities of the association, which aims to spread the culture of Arabic calligraphy arts and related traditional arts to preserve, preserve and teach them to new generations. of young artists.

For more than two weeks, the festival includes three workshops with students studying Nastaliq, Diwani, and Fatimid Kufic scripts, along with workshops to improve calligraphy and writing for children of various ages in three cultural centers: Abu Rummaneh, Kafar Souseh, and Al-Midan, in addition to an exhibition for students and a virtual exhibition for artists from outside Syria.

The participation of the calligrapher Muhammad Qena, head of the Hama Calligraphers Association, was represented by one painting in Al-Diwani Al-Jali script, written in Kali ink, and indicated that the festival seeks to gather calligraphers from all Syrian governorates with the aim of spreading the culture of Arabic calligraphy arts.

Calligrapher Mahmoud Hadid participated in three paintings with various lines between Kufic and Thuluth, and pointed out that the festival introduces young people to the arts of calligraphy that express our culture and heritage identity, which calls for support and sponsorship of such important events.

The calligrapher Riyad Al-Abdullah from Raqqa participated in the festival with the aim of supporting and encouraging the young generation of calligraphers and to increase their visual and artistic culture.

The plastic artist Khaldoun Al-Ahmad, who comes from Aleppo, presented five lettering works within his lettering approach, through which he celebrates the Arabic letter with its artistic brush and aesthetic formations, as if it were a musical instrument in calligraphy and color.

As for the calligrapher Muhammad Qassem, his participation came with three paintings, and he explained that the festival is developing year after year in terms of quantity and quality of the participating works.

The young artist Alaa Al-Ghabra embodied the depth of his belonging to the city of Damascus with three paintings in which he combined Arabic calligraphy with drawing and decoration using watercolor, acrylic and inks, with wooden frames inlaid with mother-of-pearl, also made by his hand.

The young artist, Abeer Al-Oudat, participated with a painting in which she wrote four words, and explained that the festival is an opportunity for the young generation of lovers and scholars of Arabic calligraphy to present what they have to the public.
