In the last year there has been an increase in reports of cases of domestic violence - this is what the Ministry of Welfare updated today (Monday), as part of the International Day of the Fight against Violence against Women.
According to published data, in 2022 there was a 3.6% increase in the number of referrals to the help center and an 11.14% increase in the number of patients at the centers against domestic violence.
From January 2022 to October 2022, approximately 5,712 inquiries regarding domestic violence were received at hotline 118 operated by the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security.
Of the total inquiries, approximately 3,432 were regarding violence against a woman in a marital system, 184 inquiries were regarding violence against a man in a marital system and 1,266 inquiries were regarding violence against children within the family.

In 2021, the centers for the treatment and prevention of domestic violence received about 21,491 inquiries.
This is an increase of 11.14% from 2020, during which approximately 19,337 people came to receive treatment at the centers.
From January 2022 until today, approximately 679 women have arrived at shelters for women victims of violence and their children.
This is a decrease of about 8% compared to the corresponding period in 2021 - when the number of women in shelters reached about 738.
From the beginning of 2022 until today, approximately 1,056 children arrived at the shelters compared to the corresponding period in 2021 - when approximately 1,179 children of women victims of violence arrived.
This is a decrease of 11.8%.
Minister of Welfare and Social Security Meir Cohen said that the ministry is working to expand the number of torturers in the field.
"We want to enable everyone who suffers from domestic violence to deal with it in the best possible way," he emphasized.
The Director General of the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security, Sigal Moran added: "We are determined to do whatever it takes to improve treatment methods in diverse and creative ways."
