According to a new survey, things are going slightly uphill for the CSU in Bavaria.

The Greens obviously have to cope with significant losses.

Munich — A new survey paints a positive picture for the CSU in Bavaria.

For the Bavarian Greens, on the other hand, things are looking bleak.

They are losing approval, while the CSU and Free Voters are gaining ground according to the representative survey.

CSU wins votes — The Greens lose approval

If there were state elections in Bavaria on Sunday, the CSU around Prime Minister Markus Söder would get 41 percent of the votes.

That is 2 percentage points more than in the previous month, according to a study by the opinion research institute Civey on behalf of the

Augsburger Allgemeine

.

A year ago, the CSU was still 33 percent.

10 percent would vote for the coalition partner, the Free Voters - so the incumbent government would still have a majority.

Survey in Bavaria

According to its own statements, the opinion research institute Civey only counts the votes of registered and verified Internet users who have provided data such as age, place of residence and gender for its representative surveys.

The votes are weighted according to a scientific method according to the composition of Bavaria's population.

For the question "Who would you vote for if there were state elections in Bavaria on Sunday?" The answers of 5501 citizens from Bavaria, selected to be representative of the population, were taken into account in the period from November 6th, 2022 to November 20th, 2022.

The Greens, on the other hand, would have to cope with significant losses, according to the survey.

In October they came to 21 percent, now it's only 17 percent.

The next places are followed by the SPD and AfD, who are tied with the Free Voters at 10 percent.

FDP (3 percent) and Left (2) would not be represented in the state parliament - they would fail at the five percent hurdle.

CSU is gaining approval - but polls are fraught with uncertainty

However, the following applies: In principle, election polls only reflect the opinion at the time of the poll and are not a forecast of the outcome of the election.

They are always fraught with uncertainties.

Among other things, declining party loyalty and increasingly short-term voting decisions make it difficult for the opinion research institutes to weight the data collected.

Last week, the Bavarian cabinet proposed October 8, 2023 as the date for the next state election in Bavaria.

In the political talk "Markus Lanz", Söder recently defended Bavaria's position in renewable energies and accused moderator Lanz of "bad research".

According to its own statements to Merkur.de

, Söder plans to

become “more independent of the north” when it comes to energy.
