Has the Hanna case been solved?

The police have arrested a young man who is urgently suspected of the murder of the 23-year-old.

However, the evidence still seems ambiguous.

Aschau im Chiemgau

– Mayor Simon Frank received the good news on Friday evening, November 18th.

He receives a personal call from Hans-Peter Butz, head of the Soko "Club".

There is a suspect.

A young man from the southern district of Rosenheim was arrested on Friday and his apartment was then searched.

Soko leader Butz had always kept the mayor up to date on the status of the investigation.

"Only what I needed to know, of course, and no details that I was grateful for," says Frank.

The evidence seems strong, because on Friday evening an arrest warrant was issued against the man from the southern district of Rosenheim.

The charge is murder.

It is unclear whether he knew Hanna W. or whether she – should he be the perpetrator – was a random victim, because the police have so far kept relatively covered.

Murder case Hanna: Suspect has not commented yet

Even on Sunday there is little information.

Carolin Englert, a spokeswoman for the police headquarters in Oberbayern Süd, only confirms that the arrest was not based on information from the program "Aktenzeichen XY ... Unsolved", but resulted from the hearing of witnesses.

The Soko will continue to work at full strength for the time being.

According to Englert, there is also little information about the suspect because it is an adolescent.

"There is a concrete suspicion of a crime, otherwise he would not have been arrested," said Englert.

But one also determines "in favor of the suspect", because it happens again and again that suspicions are shattered.

As long as you have to protect the young man.

His age is therefore only given as 18 to 21 years.

Investigator: Case ongoing

So far, the suspect has not commented, as the Rosenheim criminal defense attorney Harald Baumgärtl, who took over the defense, confirmed on Sunday.

Since his client is an adolescent, should there be an indictment, a court would have to decide whether juvenile or adult criminal law should be applied.

An adolescent psychiatrist can also be consulted in this regard.

As Baumgärtl said, he had not yet had access to the files and only saw his client 20 to 30 minutes at the police station before he was brought before the judge.

The Rosenheim defense attorney describes the circumstances in which the young man lived as orderly.

The Hanna W. case has shaken the region badly.

The 23-year-old, who studied medicine in Romania, was visiting her family and celebrating on the night of October 3rd in the popular "Eiskeller" club in Aschau im Chiemgau.

As surveillance images from the club show, Hanna W. left the "ice cellar" at around 2.30 a.m. - but never arrived at home.

Her body was found in the afternoon nine kilometers from Aschau in the Prien with severe head injuries.

The crime scene was probably somewhere else.

Hanna's ring and a conspicuous wooden watch were found near the Kampenwand car park in Bärbach.

It is possible that Hanna's body was washed over the Bärbach into the Prien.

The stream that runs past the parking lot and flows into the Prien carried a lot of water on the evening of the crime.

Does this wooden watch have anything to do with the case?

That's not clear yet.

A recently 50-strong special commission called "Club" took up the investigation.

The case even made it into the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY … Unsolved”.

In total, the investigators followed around 400 tips and interviewed hundreds of witnesses.

One or more of these statements ultimately led to the suspect.

Mayor Simon Frank believes that the arrest is a cause for celebration.

But now we have to wait and see.

The police see it the same way.

Investigators say the case is not closed.

It is still important to reconstruct the night of the crime as accurately as possible.

This is how the arrest came about.

In the past few days, "due to witness statements, concrete suspicions against the suspect have arisen," said police spokesman Stefan Sonntag.

These witness interviews had been carried out continuously since Hanna was found in the Prien.

Hanna's trail was lost after her visit to the "Eiskeller".

There were 600 to 800 people in the club that night.

Finding them all, taking their statements and putting the pieces of information together like a jigsaw puzzle - a mammoth task for the police.

Murder case Hanna: clairvoyant taps on the wrong person

It is unclear whether and how the wooden watch of the brand "Holzkern" found in the water of the Bärbach next to Hanna's ring fits into the scene of the crime.

Do the watch and its as yet unknown owner have nothing or a lot to do with the crime?

For a long time, the wooden watch was considered the hottest trail.

As PP spokeswoman Carolin Englert confirmed on Sunday, she was not the trigger for the current arrest.

"The investigation into the watch is ongoing."

Is the location where Hanna's ring and watch were found also the crime scene?

The case also drove bizarre flowers.

Most recently, a nationwide known clairvoyant had turned on.

Michael Schneider (52) from Siegburg wanted to have already found the murderer and given the detective the decisive clue.

"We checked the information.

These clues did not lead us to the perpetrator, the trail quickly broke up – the clairvoyant was clearly wrong," police spokesman Sunday told rosenheim24.de.

Schneider explained in a short message on Saturday: "I've also known since 11 a.m. that it's probably not the gentleman from my tip, even if my age and rough area are relatively close." Before the arrest, he had oracles with " the police will not be able to get any further with the guests of the disco”.
