The Iranian crowd that came to the World Cup in Qatar took advantage of the stage already in the team's first match.

Before the opening whistle of the match that ended in a painful 6:2 at the hands of England, the fans of the Asian team booed their country's national anthem as part of a protest against the Ayatollah regime in the country, which was joined by the Iranian players themselves when they did not sing the national anthem.

After the defeat, the team's Portuguese coach, Carlos Queiroz, commented on the drastic step with his own firm statement: "Why did they come here to be against the team?", he wondered, "It would have been much better if they just stayed at home."

A journalist from the British website "Sky" criticized Kiiros for his words and tweeted: "So powerful and brave on the part of Iran's players not to sing their national anthem. Strong on the part of the fans who booed shrillly in protest, with the signs and shirts 'Women, Life, Freedom'. Very poor On the part of Carlos Queiroz to say that those fans are not welcome at Iran's games."

A large part of the fans in the stands do not live in Iran, but are very active in protests against the regime from their place of residence.

In the stands were several dozen Iranian fans who came with shirts bearing the same inscription: "Zan, Zindagi, Azadi" ("Woman, Life, Freedom") - a familiar chant of the demonstrators in Iran.

As you may remember, the hijab protest that has agitated Iran in recent months and brought hundreds of thousands to the streets demanding the liberation of the people from the dark rule of the Revolutionary Guards also swept away the country's former senior footballers, including Ali Dai and Ali Karimi, who openly opposed the Ayatollahs.

In the past month, several of Iran's national teams in the various fields also joined the protest - the basketball and handball teams who refused to sing the national anthem before their games, and the beach soccer team whose players celebrated scoring goals with a hair cutting motion - one of the symbols of the protest.
