The Ecuadorian team beat its Qatari counterpart this Sunday in what was the opening match of the 2022 World Cup.

"La Tri" beat the Qataris 2 - 0, who throughout the game struggled to have a dangerous play in the Ecuadorian area.

(In fact, his most dangerous play came in the 85th minute of the game thanks to a long-range shot that went just over the crossbar.)

The two Ecuadorian goals came from striker Enner Valencia, who also had a goal disallowed for offside just 5 minutes into the game.

Ecuador's next rival is the Netherlands, a match that will be played on Friday.

Qatar will face Senegal in their second group game, also on Friday.
