The nomination period for the 2023 rural general elections has been completed earlier, and the Electoral Affairs Commission will hold an online briefing session for candidates at 7:30 p.m. on November 23 (Wednesday).
Chairman of the EAC, Lu Qihong, will host a briefing session to explain to candidates the election arrangements for this rural ordinary election, the content of the guidelines for election activities and the important matters that should be noted when conducting election activities.
A representative from ICAC will explain the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance.
Representatives from the Home Affairs Department and the Department of Justice will also attend.
The briefing will be conducted via video, and the Home Affairs Department has issued a letter inviting candidates and their election agents to participate.
Successfully registered candidates and election agents will be given login details and points to note for the briefing session.
There will be a question-and-answer session at the briefing session. Candidates and election agents can submit questions online, and the computer system will randomly select questions.
The briefing sessions will be broadcast live on RTHK TV 32 and selected YouTube channels, the website of the Information Services Department, the Facebook page of NewsGov.com, the Facebook page of the Home Affairs Department and the Rural Representative Election website.
The rural representative elections will be held early next year. Feng Hua reminds that open elections before the registration period will include election expenses. The nomination period for village representative elections and market town representative elections has ended.
