And Dr. Al-Ayed indicated that diabetes mellitus affects the heart muscle itself, as it causes enlargement and disease in it, and affects the arteries, pointing to the need to investigate the percentage of diabetes for each patient who has had a myocardial infarction or acute coronary syndrome, indicating that the presence of diabetes in heart patients Those who need any type of cardiac surgery that poses a high risk, and the rate of sugar must be controlled to protect them from cardiovascular complications, or that prevent wound healing and cause infections.

It is noteworthy that with the aim of raising awareness of the dangers of diabetes, the Ministry of Health launched, on the 16th of this month, an awareness campaign entitled (Do not sweeten it with excess), which includes holding community events and educational lectures, and distributing guidance brochures on the harms of white sugar to public health, and the need to follow a healthy lifestyle.
