Heritage, oriental singing, and choral songs that call for love and carry the message of peace, were collected by the Choir (The Good Shepherd), in a creative lyrical combination, which managed to reach the hearts of art and fine music lovers.

From the province of Latakia, the choir began its journey in 1996 in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Latakia, which embraced this beautiful art and presented it to the world.

The choir worked for years to revive songs from the heritage of Latakia Governorate, and embraced the talents of many since childhood, and provided them with musical and lyrical training so that they could present high-level artistic works, relying on great effort and intensive training that was always crowned with concerts on Syrian theaters that cultivated joy and hope.

The choir performed many concerts that met with great success through its five choirs distributed according to age groups, in addition to hosting groups according to various musical styles, the Oriental Choir, the Heritage Choir, and the Polyphonic Choir.

Choir (The Good Shepherd) had moved with three choirs from different governorates to the final qualifiers for the first national competition for Syrian choirs entitled (Syrian Heritage), and the results are scheduled to be announced next Thursday within the Syrian Culture Days at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus, and the moving choirs are Arjwan Choir from Tartous, and the Zafar Netounis Choir and Spentianian Choir from Aleppo.

And the Ministry of Culture announced last August the conditions for participating in the competition, including that the choirs have previously performed concerts in the city in which they are located, and that the singing be for at least two different voices, and that all the ages of the choir be from 18 years and above, and that the number of its members does not exceed 25 vocalists. Including the choir leader and accompanying musicians, if any, and not less than 12 people.

The ministry also set the conditions for the musical program of the participating choir to include pieces from the heritage that represents the governorate or city of the choir coming from it, and the program may include two pieces as a maximum of non-heritage.
