Four students from the University of Idaho in the United States were found about a week ago lifeless in their home outside the campus, with stab marks on them.
Tonight (Monday) the local police said that according to the suspicion they were stabbed many times "while apparently sleeping".
So far, no suspects have been found and the weapon has not yet been found, police said.
The four college students are 20-year-old Ethan Chapin, 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves, 20-year-old Zanna Karnodel and 21-year-old Madison Maughan.
According to the reports of the local police, their bodies were found on the second and third floor of the house, some of them with defensive wounds.
In the apartment, there were two other partners, who survived the incident unharmed.
Police said they are "potentially the key to this whole thing," but that they "do not believe" the two were involved.

Investigators conducted 38 interviews with people "who may have information" about the murder and local business owners were asked if there had been any recent purchases of a "fixed blade knife."
Also, all the contents of the garbage cans in the area were taken in case evidence that had been hidden was found in them.
Latta County Coroner Kathy Mabbott told CNN she saw "a lot of blood on the wall" when she arrived.
She confirmed that there were multiple stab wounds all over her body - apparently from the same weapon.
The researcher also added that there was no sign of sexual assault on the bodies during the autopsy.
According to the order of events conducted by the police, according to what is known, that night around 01:40, two of the four who were murdered were recorded near a food truck from which they purchased food, talking to each other and to others who were standing near the truck.
Joseph Woodall, the driver of the truck, told CNN that the two female students did not appear to be in distress or danger in any way.
After that, all the quartet returned to their home, after 01:45 in the morning.
There they were murdered.
Police arrived at the residence after receiving a 911 call around noon reporting an unconscious man.
The authorities have not released the identity of the reporter.
When the officers arrived at the home, they entered a bloody crime scene.
"It was quite a traumatic scene to find four female students dead in the dorms," Coroner Mabot said earlier this week.
All four were pronounced dead at noon.

The university announced that it will hold a candlelight vigil in memory of the four students on campus on November 30.
"Please join us wherever you are, individually or as a group, to help us light up Idaho," the university's website reads.
"Light a candle, turn on the stadium lights or keep a moment of silence with us when we unite on campus."
Zana Karnodel's father said that he spoke with his daughter just hours before she was attacked and killed.
"I think midnight was the last we heard from her, and she was fine," he said.
He added that he does not understand why his daughter and her roommates were killed in their home.
"They were just enjoying themselves at home. Zana just spent time at home with her boyfriend," he said.
Karnodel also added that the door of the house was opened with a code number.
"So, either they knew it or they just turned around and found the sliding door open," he said.

Olivia Goncalves, Kylie's sister, told ABC in an interview that there was a lock on the door and that "my sister would always guard the door."
But, she added that "this was the group's home, and it's been that way for generations, so I wouldn't say they were very private with that code," she said.
