A man wanted to scare away birds and shot himself in the stomach with a homemade gun.

He wanted to scare away birds with a homemade weapon.
But the man from the Schwandorf district made a mistake and was seriously injured.
District of Schwandorf - "Senior seriously injured with homemade weapon", is the title of the latest press release from the Oberpfalz police.

According to the report, a senior made a shooting tube to drive away birds.
"The shot literally backfired," the officials report, because the man accidentally shot himself in the stomach.
On Friday (November 18), the police became aware that an over 70-year-old senior from the Schwandorf district had been taken to a clinic with a gunshot wound.
As it then turned out in the course of the investigation, "he had made a gun barrel out of parts from a bolt gun and a self-rolled barrel to scare away birds."

The incident still concerns people. Recently, a student clearly carried a gun during a lecture at the LMU.

But when handling the homemade weapon, he apparently made a mistake, the officials continued.
The man shot himself in the stomach with a small caliber bullet and required surgery.
He is out of danger.
The police have started investigations on suspicion of a crime under the Weapons Act.
“There is an urgent warning against such self-constructions!
Not only are they illegal, they are potentially life-threatening," the warning said.
