Damascus, SANA- Recent studies are directed towards finding clean alternatives for electric energy and securing the growing demand for electricity

Damascus-SANA

Recent studies are moving towards finding clean alternatives for electric energy and securing the increasing demand for it at the lowest costs. This is the basis for the solar cell project to generate electricity, which was presented by two students at the Faculty of Technical Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering Technologies at the University of Aleppo, Bayan Khantumani and Shahd Shamiya, during their participation in the exhibition of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering for projects.

Khantumani explained to SANA that the high cost of solar panels made of silicon cells prompted them to design dye solar cells through nanotechnology, which is one of the third generation types of solar cells consisting of three parts: the photoelectrode, the counterelectrode, and the electrolyte.

The importance of this type of solar cell, according to Shamieh, is that it does not need precise devices to manufacture it, and locally available materials are used in it, which represents an important step in the path of manufacturing solar cells with national expertise that is characterized by low production costs, easy manufacturing, works in simple lighting conditions, and withstands high temperatures. .

The project, entitled (Utilizing Nanotechnology and Natural Dyes in Preparing Dye Solar Cells), participated in the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Projects Exhibition, which was held last month at the University of Damascus, with the participation of 195 projects from public and private universities in Syria.
