In this commune of Loire-Atlantique, only one district will be lit with Christmas decorations. And again it will be during a shorter period than usual and with reduced hours.

And the light...was not.

In Rezé, south of Nantes, the municipality has decided to drastically reduce the use of Christmas lights.

Only one district - that of Pont Rousseau - will be lit in 2022. By way of comparison, 19 sites spread across the municipality were concerned by such a device last year.

If an area is an exception, it will also be subject to sobriety: the lights will be on for less time (between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.) and for a reduced period (from December 15 to January 2), i.e. fifteen days less than in 2021.

No new decor

This simplified device should allow

“a 95% drop in energy consumption compared to last year”

, assures the municipality in a press release.

She also specifies that no new decor has been purchased for the end-of-year celebrations.

This decision by the elected officials of Rezé is part of the sobriety plan implemented across the Nantes conurbation.

This imposes a reduction in the duration of the Christmas lights and the number of decorations.

In Nantes, similar arrangements have been made.

Their effect will be less strong than in Rezé.

In the city centre, a 45% drop in energy consumption is expected.

A decrease of 58% in the neighborhoods.
