Schongau – It was a respectable line-up: The initiators of the event on the future of the closed Fuchstalbahn were able to gather around 90 listeners in the Ballenhaus in Schongau.
There was no shortage of local celebrities and experts: In addition to Mayor Falk Sluyterman and his deputy Daniela Puzzovio (both SPD), Norbert Moy from "Pro Bahn Oberbayern", Harald Baumann from the "Fuchstalbahn" working group of the environmental initiative Pfaffenwinkel and Thomas Frey from the Bund Naturschutz (Bund Naturschutz) gave speeches information on the long-running “Reactivation of the Fuchstalbahn”.
The focus was on the renewed demand for a revival of the route.

According to the proponents, it would close the gap between the Pfaffenwinkel and Lechfeld railways and thus noticeably relieve the numerous daily commuters in the connected towns and communities.
"We are currently working on getting the state government to announce its willingness to reactivate the railway, which is so important," informed Baumann.
The signs are not bad, one is "in intensive talks" with the authorities.
Sluyterman emphasized that Schongau, Altenstadt and Peiting form a strong center with around 30,000 inhabitants: "It makes sense that the three communities are reconnected."
Demands are part of a resolution passed over the summer
The demands are well known, they are part of a resolution that was passed in the summer of this year (we reported).
A reactivated Fuchstalbahn means "reliable and quick accessibility of the long-distance connection in Augsburg without a car", as Moy emphasized.
Further advantages: A fast and attractive connection of the said middle center to the north in the direction of Landsberg and Kaufering as well as the completion of the ring closure.
"The Fuchstalbahn is still a blind spot on the Bavarian railway map," criticized Frey from the Bund Naturschutz.
It was unanimously said at the end of the event that Bavaria should not remain a "railway development country".
Additional federal funds to finance municipal transport
According to the experts, additional federal funds would be available to finance municipal transport after the changed legal situation.
The Free State must now show the will to participate financially in the project: "It has to spend more of its own money on local transport investments," Frey demanded.
