Opinion The nuclear deal is dead, but the Iranians are not "on the boards" and will continue to race for the bomb Israel today

2022-11-22T20:19:11.722Z

Biden and his people did almost everything to return to the agreement, but two demands of the Iranians were not accepted • And now the Americans are asking themselves what to do in the absence of an agreement • Let's hope that the new government in Israel will have answers

Two years after the election of President Biden, it should be clear to the last skeptics that the nuclear deal is dead.

Not probably and not maybe, but definitely.

The JCPOA is not coming back and the Americans know it too.

True, Biden and his people did almost everything to return to the agreement.

They thought that the Iranian demand for compensation for Trump's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement was just, and therefore they intended to pour hundreds of billions into it.

They wanted to return to the 2015 agreement as it is, even though they recognized its many shortcomings.

They ignored the global Iranian aggression and the proven lies of the Islamic Republic.

They abandoned their promises of a "broader, longer and stronger" agreement.

All to return to the agreement.

In fact, the US rejected only two demands. One, to pressure the IAEA to close the investigations against Iran.

Biden was not willing to compromise on that.

Second, the Iranians wanted a commitment that a future administration would not withdraw from the agreement again if they returned to it.

To this the Americans replied that even if they wanted to, they have no way to replace those who might replace them in 2024.

Under these conditions, the actual answer of the supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, was that there was no point in the agreement.

The talks faded away in the summer.

Since then, the mass protest broke out in Iran, which even did not make the Ayatollahs budge.

Iran even raised the level of provocation in the West and began to help Russia in the war against Ukraine.

Also, today it expanded the prohibited enrichment at the level of 60 percent and underground in new centers.

That is, if someone lives in the illusion that the Iranians are on the boards or will soon crawl into the arms of the powers, he simply does not know what he is playing.

It may not seem so to us, but as far as Iran is concerned, it is on the horse.

Not only is returning to the agreement with the US not an option for her, but getting closer to Russia is her preferred policy. The enemies of her enemies are her friends.

Those who know best of all that the agreement is dead are the Americans.

The American envoy for Iran affairs, Rob Mali, did indeed do everything in the last two years to reach an agreement.

Because of this he is very unpopular among the decision makers in Israel.

However, long before the latest developments, he separated his actions from his assessments and long ago came to the conclusion that the chances of an agreement were slim - even more so now.

So the main question from his point of view and from the administration's point of view is not 'how do we return to the agreement'?

He knows this track is off the hook.

What Mali is asking itself, is what can be done in the absence of an agreement to prevent Iran from getting a bomb.

He will soon present this problem to the representatives of the new Israeli government.

Direct bombing of the nuclear facilities is out of the question for him.

America is not looking for more wars now.

Sanctions, as past experience shows, are not enough.

So what?

Hopefully the Israeli officials will have good answers.
