The plaintiffs planned to gather this Tuesday, November 22 in front of the establishment to demand the suspension of the doctor in question.

Endometriosis specialist Émile Daraï, a renowned gynecologist at Tenon Hospital in Paris, had already been the subject of an internal investigation since September 2021 for acts of gynecological violence.

Today dismissed from his position as head of the gynecology department and educational manager, he is now the subject of 36 complaints for “rape”, but continues to exercise within the AP-HP.

The consent of the patients in question

According to a judicial source contacted last March by

Le Figaro

, since January 2022, the practitioner has been the subject of a judicial investigation for “violence by a person responsible for a public service mission”.

This judicial investigation had been opened following multiple complaints lodged against the doctor for “rape”.

In order to demand the suspension of Doctor Daraï, the feminist collective “Stop aux Violences Gynecologiques et Obstetricales” (“Stop VOG”) called for a demonstration this Tuesday, November 22 in front of the Tenon hospital, at 6:30 p.m.

We are campaigning today because we are extremely shocked to see that this practitioner practices with total impunity.

We are all the more so since he was invited last May to the congress of the National College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians (CNGOF)

”, supports

Sonia Bish, founder of the Stop VOG collective , with Le

Figaro .

Professor Daraï had however declined the invitation "

to preserve the largest French annual congress devoted to women's health

", specifies a press release from the CNGOF.

The association also claims that beyond these 36 complaints, "Stop VOG" would have collected nearly 190 testimonies from women questioning the practices of the gynecologist, accusing him in particular of "rape of a minor", "rape in meeting", "rape" and "violence".

These patients denounce in particular vaginal examinations “

by surprise

” and carried out in an “

extremely brutal

” way.

The collective calls in particular for training aimed at “

learning to welcome consent

” to be provided to doctors.

Contacted, the Tenon hospital did not respond to our requests.
