Police murder: Defender calls for “fair verdict”

In the murder trial of the deadly shots at two police officers near Kusel (West Palatinate), the main defendant's defense pleaded for "a fair verdict".
Defense attorney Lars Nozar said in his plea to the district court of Kaiserslautern that no specific demand was made.
His colleague Leonhard Kaiser added: "We still don't know a lot of things."
Kaiserslautern – The main defendant admitted in the process that he had shot the police officer in self-defense.
He held the co-defendant responsible for the policewoman's death, which he had always denied.
"We have two different versions here that could not be refuted," Kaiser said.
From the defense's point of view, it was "not murder, maximum bodily harm resulting in death".
On January 31, a 29-year-old police commissioner and a 24-year-old police candidate were shot dead during a night traffic check on a district road near Kusel.
22 shot deer are said to have been lying in the van they were driving at the scene of the crime.
As a suspected shooter, the 39-year-old has been on trial for two murders since mid-June.
He is said to have killed the two police officers to cover up poaching.
The co-defendant was there as a helper in the poaching.
Prosecutors had previously asked for life imprisonment for the main suspect for two counts of murder.
She also spoke out in favor of determining the particular severity of the guilt.
The joint plaintiffs essentially agreed with the claims.
The verdict is expected to fall on November 30th.
