Polish President Andrzej Duda fell victim to an impostor who pretended to be French President Emmanuel Macron on the night a missile hit a village in Polish territory near the border with Ukraine, his office admitted today (Tuesday).
In a seven-and-a-half-minute recording of the phone call uploaded to the Internet by Russian comedians Boban and Laxus - they are Vladimir Kozenchev and Alexei Stolyarov - the Polish president is heard speaking in English with his interlocutor trying to imitate a French accent.
The conversation, the second this year in which the Russian comedians succeed in fooling Doda, was held on an evening when the world feared a third world war.
"Emmanuel, believe me, I am very careful," said his uncle to his son.
"I don't want a war with Russia, and believe me, I am very careful, very, very careful."

Duda's office tweeted that "after the missiles fell, during a series of conversations with leaders from around the world, a man posing as French President Emmanuel Macron managed to connect to the president's phone. During the conversation, President Andrzej Duda realized that it was a prank attempt and ended the call."
Duda's office is now investigating how the caller was able to connect to the president's phone.
In 2020, Boban and Lexus called Doda posing as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The two are known in Russia for pranking celebrities and politicians, and made fake phone calls to Macron, singer Elton John and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, among others.
