At the Pipinsried town meeting there were numerous questions about energy production.

Pipinsried - 15 development plans for open space photovoltaic systems are currently being processed in the market building office.

If all are realized as requested and if you add the existing open space systems, you get a total of 151 hectares.

That corresponds to exactly two percent of the municipal area that the market council set as the upper limit for such systems in spring, Altomünster's Mayor Michael Reiter answered a question from Michael Schmid at the town meeting in Pipinsried.

22 residents gathered at the Lampl inn, plus eight members of the municipal council.

The questions were mixed.

energy autonomy

Some revolved around renewable energy resources.

According to Reiter, the market community is striving for extensive energy autonomy due to skyrocketing energy costs.

He knows municipalities that have to pay twelve times as much per kilowatt hour as before due to new electricity contracts.

Therefore, the municipal council should discuss whether the number of fields, i.e. the index that measures the quality of arable land, could be reduced for other solar power areas.

The number of fields in Altomünster is currently 55, the district average is 52.5.

Keep an eye on the soil quality, assured riders.

In addition to the PV system on the roof of the school building, further photovoltaic systems are to be built on all large municipal buildings.

"In theory, we would already be self-sufficient - if the sun were always shining," says Michael Reiter, referring to an energy monitor on the community website.

There you can read the current level of supply.

Biogas plants are also listed there.

wind turbines

Incidentally, the electricity supply contract for Altomünster runs until 2024. In this context, Josef Hermann junior wanted to know whether there were any concrete plans for wind turbines in the municipal area.

The head of the community believes it is certain that wind turbines will come through the regional plan.

However, there are no concrete plans yet.

But Altomünster relies on citizen wind turbines.

The council is open to this possibility.

However, time is running out before federal efforts are made to lift distance regulations for housing estates.

“Yes, wind turbines, but not at a distance of maybe 500 meters.

We don't want wild growth, we want wind power with and for the citizens."

The monastery

Josef Hermann also inquired about the status of the monastery.

Reiter put it carefully: “Unfortunately, we have no say.

When it comes to the church, you have to think long-term.” However, the monastery is not ideal for overall use, as far as the layout and fire protection requirements are concerned.

In addition, the need for rehabilitation is enormous.

population figures

566 residents currently live in Pipinsried, in 2021 there were 571. Overall, the market town has grown by around 80 inhabitants, the head of the municipality announced in his report.

"Is that a strategy or are we not attractive enough?" asked Markus Knoll.

However, Reiter pointed out that they "did not want to let the lovable community get extremely out of hand".

Because that also requires more infrastructure.

In fact, growth is increasing by around one percent annually.

"I don't think we're on the wrong track," said Reiter.

Even if the settlement pressure from Munich is enormous and the community continues to provide housing.

Affordable housing

At this point, Thomas Asam intervened and started talking about affordable housing.

He considers a rent of 12 euros per square meter for the new apartments that Altomünster is building together with the district’s housing association to be “no longer social.

Who should still be able to afford that?”.

Reiter admitted: "12 euros are quite a challenge for someone who is economically weak." The mayor emphasized, however, that it was not just due to the high construction costs.

There are also equipment specifications for subsidized housing.
