According to the police, the New Territories South Regional Mobile Unit, together with officers from Tsuen Wan Police District, Kwai Tsing Police District, Airport Police District and the Immigration Department, conducted a joint anti-illegal labor operation code-named "Champion" (CHAMPION) yesterday (November 23) , Raided and searched multiple crime black spots in the area.
During the operation, officers arrested a total of 13 people, including 3 local men, 3 local women, 1 Mainland man, 3 Mainland women, 1 non-Chinese man and 2 non-Chinese women, aged between 26 and 55. They are suspected of "violating the conditions of stay", "aiding and abetting the violation of the conditions of stay", "aiding and abetting illegal entry", "rejecting permission to enter Hong Kong to accept employment", "employing persons who are not legally employable", "Illegal entry into Hong Kong without the approval of the Director of Immigration and subsequent employment in Hong Kong", "Possession of Dangerous Drugs", "Possession of Part 1 Poisons", etc.
During the operation, officers also found that one of the local men was a wanted person.
The arrested persons are currently being detained for investigation, and some of the arrested persons will be transferred to the Immigration Department for follow-up.
According to the Immigration Ordinance, if an employer employs a person who is not lawfully employable and the person is an illegal immigrant, a person subject to a removal order or deportation order, an overstayer or a person who has been refused entry, the maximum penalty is a fine 500,000 yuan and 10 years in prison.
