Homs-Sana

The contemporary poetry evening, which was hosted by the Syriac Catholic Archdiocese in Al-Hamidiyah neighborhood in Homs, dealt with 15 patriotic, sentimental and ghazal poems, as well as many inspiring photographs.

The evening, titled “Reading Pictures and Drawing with Words,” was performed by the poet Hassan Katoub, and was accompanied by the melodies of the oud by artist Nabil Al-Nahhas.

The poet started the evening with a poem titled “Bare Feet”, whose words were inspired by a picture of the feet of a soldier who wanted to take a break, followed by a poem entitled “Work is Worship” that dealt with a hero of the Syrian Arab Army whose injury did not immobilize him and led to the amputation of his feet, but he continued to work with all his might. Determination and persistence, concluding the patriotic side with the poem “By God, we will die,” which dealt with the heroism of the martyr Yahya al-Shughri, who stood with dignity and pride in front of the terrorist organization “ISIS” without fear and hesitation.

On the sentimental side, he dealt in his poem “The Child and the Eagle” by the international artist, Kevin Carter, of a girl in South Africa breathing her breath and next to her an eagle awaiting her death. And her beauty.
