A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook northwestern Turkey this Tuesday, local time, according to the US Geological Survey. (USGS, for its acronym in English).
The quake had a depth of 3.9 kilometers, USGS said.
The epicenter of the quake was located 16.4 kilometers east of Düzce, in the region of the same name, according to the geological service.
For its part, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) calculated a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 for the quake, with a depth of 2 kilometers.
