Seven decades of artistic and cultural activity to revive the Armenian heritage and spread it on the Arab and international levels with limitless dedication and passion, presented by the Spintiarian Choir through collective singing in its various forms, to become the core of choral activity in Aleppo.

A rich history of classical music, famous for the choir, which was established by the local committee of the Armenian Youth Association in Aleppo in 1953, led by Jerair Iskanyan and named after the Armenian musician Alexander Espentaryan.

The choir gave its first concert on the 23rd of December 1953 with a band consisting of 75 members and a small string orchestra until it turned into quartet voices after distributing Arabic songs by Hashim Fansa, the director of the Arab Music Institute in Aleppo at the time, who was later invited to Armenia with the choir in 1971 in honor of his efforts. In raising the level of performance of the choir, which gave concerts in Aleppo, Damascus, Lattakia, Homs, Kasab and Beirut.

The choir moved to the international atmosphere in 1971 to land in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia to participate in the celebrations of the centenary of the musician’s birth, and gave concerts in the National Opera House and the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, and in 1992 Maestro Boghos Abajian took over his leadership, who presented the choir with a new image of international Arabic and Armenian classic songs. Besides popular songs.

And it was led by the most famous Armenian musicians from 1994 to 2001, such as Robert Amirkhanian and Gerir Altonian, during whose reign the choir was invited to Beirut to participate in the jubilee celebration in the UNESCO Hall, in addition to a special choir concert at the American University in Beirut, until it was led by the pianist and composer Shogakat Apartian. Suleiman, who gave the choir a new face to the Armenian song with her fine taste in jazz music in 2005.

The choir participated in the (Ya Watani) festival, which brought together Armenian choir groups from all over the world at the National Opera House in Yerevan, and received a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Diaspora in Armenia. With the participation of the Chamber Orchestra (Comidas), and last September he participated in the concert of the National Symphony Orchestra led by Maestro Misak Bagboudrian in the Citadel of Aleppo, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of Tourism and the World Tourism Day.

The Spintiarian Choir had moved with three choirs from different provinces to the final qualifiers for the first national competition for Syrian choirs entitled (Syrian Heritage), and the results are scheduled to be announced tomorrow, Thursday, within the Syrian Culture Days at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus, and the moving choirs are Arjuan Choir from Tartous, Zfar Netounis Choir from Aleppo, and the Good Shepherd Choir from Lattakia.
