At an information event, Bayernwerk explained what the district heating prices in Poing will look like from January 1, 2023 and where there are opportunities to expand the district heating network.

Poing - With an adjusted price model for district heating in Poing, Bayernwerk Natur GmbH says it wants to ensure more stable prices for customers.

An improved cost mix will increase the fixed price component in the energy price for district heating from 25 to 50 percent - this would make Bayernwerk less dependent on external energies such as natural gas.

At the Poinger district heating, 20 percent is currently being heated with natural gas, which is to be largely replaced by a large heat pump (which would then correspond to 12 percent) in the future.

That leaves 7 percent for the combined heat and power plant/boiler.

The geothermal energy (hot deep water) feeds the Poinger district heating with 80 percent.

Poing: Around 80 visitors in the school auditorium

The presentation, which Bayernwerk sales manager and authorized signatory Robert Budde presented for the first time in September in the building and environmental committee meeting of the Poing municipal council, was shown on Tuesday evening at an information event.

Around 80 citizens came to the auditorium of the Anni Pickert School to find out about the current level of supply, the new price model and possible expansions of the district heating network in Poing.

With formulas and the illustration that the district heating price is made up of several components, of which, for example, the proportion of fossil fuels such as natural gas and electricity could not be influenced by the company, Budde showed the complex price model, which was only tailored to Poing.

Due to the energy and other crises, the electricity and natural gas index rose significantly this year, which led to a doubling of the district heating price over the course of the year, according to the Bayernwerk sales manager.

On July 1, 2021, the gross working price was EUR 75.32 per megawatt hour, on July 1 it was EUR 148.13.

Poing: Bayernwerk wants to improve the technology mix

In order to permanently reduce the price and become more independent from the market, Bayernwerk Natur GmbH wants to improve the district heating technology mix.

This is currently made up of 80 percent geothermal energy, 19 percent heat generation from gas boilers and 1 percent from a combined heat and power plant in the heating plant on Gruber Strasse.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

The company has recently taken a step towards more independence and the possibility of lowering the price and keeping it stable: "We bought the Arzberg solar park." The electricity that is generated in Upper Franconia is used to operate geothermal energy or the heating center in Poing, said Budde.

According to the sales manager, the natural gas price, which has been falling for about three weeks, could ensure a further reduction next year.

When asked by a citizen, Robert Budde explained that developments of this type generally reach companies and customers with some delay - which is why there is currently no sign of this.

Questions from the auditorium

With a view to the new price model, which will come into force on January 1, 2023, Budde announced "a significant stabilization".

Both the labor and the provision price would be reduced.

In response to another question from the auditorium as to whether and how you could cancel or change your district heating contract, the sales manager replied that you could contact him at any time to talk to him or an employee about it and to check the respective contract .

This can be changed, for example, if a customer wants to reduce their annual output to 14 kilowatt hours.

This would also lower the price.

District heating network expansion possible

Furthermore, Robert Budde explained where in Poing the district heating network could be expanded.

Bayernwerk is currently laying connections in Prielmayerstraße and at Am Hanselbrunn (near the new residential complex at Rewe-Markt).

There are inquiries from the residential areas W3 and W4 (Poing-North) as well as the fishing settlement, Mayor-Germeier-Strasse and Anzinger Strasse (all Poing-Süd).

The sales manager announced that interested parties could contact us via a contact form.

However, a certain number of interested parties is necessary, especially for W3 and W4, so that the connection to the district heating network is economical, reasonable and still affordable for the customer.

"In grown structures we need a connection rate of 60 percent." Budde announced a separate information event for the residential areas W3 and W4, which are the only ones in Poing-Nord that are not connected to the district heating network.
