The reason: Entertainer Thomas Gottschalk (72) sat there for an hour at the cash register.

There the moderator, who was born in Bamberg in 1950, collected donations for the child protection association on a voluntary basis.
"I go shopping myself, but don't ask me what the butter costs," he said when he worked at the checkout.
However, he avoids one department when shopping: "Of course, I always quickly scurry past the magazine stand." But his colleague Florian Silbereisen is usually on the front.

Gottschalk cashes in a Regensburg supermarket
In Regensburg, Gottschalk gave up the seller and collected milk, rice, oranges, gummy bears and wine.
The 72-year-old, who only moderated “Wetten, dass …?” on Saturday, November 19, chatted with customers and encouraged them to round up their purchase amount.
He also signed autographs and fulfilled countless selfie requests.

According to the information provided, the money from the campaign will benefit various social purposes via the Netto Marken-Discount-Stiftung.
"After Grönemeyer said he was going to save the board, I said I had to work here." Pop singer Herbert Grönemeyer had announced on Gottschalk's ZDF show "Wetten, dass...?" on Saturday that he would cover the costs for the Berliner Tafel for a month to take over.
