The operator has found a new location and the Heilbrunn municipal council has now approved the construction of the new yurt.

Bad Heilbrunn – The search for a new location for the forest kindergarten in Mürnsee took half an eternity, but now the end is in sight: the contract with the property owner has been signed, the neighbors have no objections, and the municipal council decided at its most recent meeting approved the planning application for the construction of a yurt.

However, Heiner Koch, Managing Director of the Albert Schweitzer Family Works, does not want to give a prognosis as to when the move will take place, "because now it's the district office's turn".

Waiting for the district office

The family company had to present fire protection and statics reports, now it's about the building permit, explains Koch: "Everything has to be processed.

I assume that the district office will take care of this quickly.” The move will be prepared for next spring.

It is not yet clear whether the move will take place immediately or not until the next kindergarten year.

The only thing that is clear is: "If the community starts building the new fire station, we have to go." The Albert Schweitzer family work is already in talks with the community to find a sensible point in time.

As long as the district office has not yet given the final okay, he does not want to make the exact location of the forest kindergarten “out of the question.” He only reveals this much: “It is close to the previous location.” Mayor Thomas Gründl put it more precisely in the municipal council meeting: "If you drive from Karpfsee in the direction of Hohenbirken, on the right side of the road."

The new building has a long history.

The forest kindergarten in Mürnsee has been in operation since summer 2018.

It is a joint project of the two municipalities of Benediktbeuern and Bad Heilbrunn and was created as a result of a parents' initiative in Benediktbeuern.

The right property was found in Mürnsee.

When the municipal council decided to build a new fire station around two years ago, it quickly became clear that the neighboring forest kindergarten had to make way: "We would have had to move behind the garages, and that would have been very cramped," explains Koch.

The Executive Board openly admits that it surprised him how difficult it is to find a suitable property: "There are simply a lot of people involved - the property owners, the neighbours, the farmers, the hunters." And then be it nor flood protection to be considered: "A few times we thought that we had found a suitable property - and then something came up." In Bad Tölz and Lenggries, the search for a location was "much easier" according to Koch: "For Forest kindergartens have a large fan base.

The parents say the children should go out into nature.

Environmental protection, closeness to nature and sustainability are very, very important to them.” The parents have high expectations, “and we have to and want to fulfill them”.

Apart from that, of course, a forest kindergarten must also comply with the state requirements for school preparation.

Parents enrolled fewer children

It was convenient for the family business that the approval of the new fire station in Mürnsee turned out to be a "complex, lengthy matter": "Therefore, the urgency of finding a new location was not so high.

The situation was still uncomfortable for the parents because they didn't know how things would continue in Mürnsee.

The registration numbers were correspondingly low in the meantime.

Koch understands this: “I would have been unsure in this situation.

As a parent, one wishes that the children are safe and in good hands.” In the meantime, a move to Benediktbeuern had been considered, which would have made it difficult for some to get there.

But since it has become clear that the forest kindergarten will remain near Mürnsee, the around 20 places are full again.

Koch is relieved that all problems have now been solved: "We have found a great lessor who is happy to support us." Apart from that, the new location is nicer and the neighboring forests are easier to reach.
