Success is obvious for Gérald Darmanin, but the hardest part is ahead of him.
The Minister of the Interior not only managed to pass his law on security (Lopmi).
But he obtained an unexpected majority, first in the Senate (307 votes against 27), in the Assembly on Tuesday (419 votes against 116).
He won the support of the entire LR right - it was his priority objective;
and that of the National Rally, without this Lepenist reinforcement arousing controversy.
He finally divided the left, LFI, communists and ecologists voting against, the socialists voting for in the Senate and abstaining in the Assembly.
Several birds with one stone.
The second legislative hurdle will be more difficult to cross.
More difficult but more decisive for Gérald Darmanin.
Because if a relative consensus has ended up being made around the means to be granted to the security forces, the treatment of the question of immigration remains a passionate subject.
And the claim to balance claimed by the Minister...
