Discontent is mounting in the old Commanderie district as one of the buildings has been without heating for a month

“Every year it's the same thing, we have to go down to the bottom of the building, call everyone to get things moving and we get the heating back on.

“In front of building D in the Rochers district, ex-Commanderie, in Nogent-sur-Oise, this Wednesday evening, exasperated fathers still do not understand why their building, which houses a crèche on the ground floor, n hasn't had any heating for two weeks, unlike all the other buildings in the neighborhood.

“We are told about unpaid bills but here, we all pay our charges, the tenants get carried away.

Why cut the heating when in other buildings, there are squatted apartments, which are heated.

“A complicated situation in a neighborhood that has been collecting difficulties, almost since its creation.

"It's colder than outside"

As winter gets tougher in recent days, the lack of heat in homes is becoming unbearable.

“My mother is old, she had convulsions!

She can't stay in an apartment where it's colder than outside,” notes a tenant, annoyed.

Another continues.

“My daughter has fallen ill, we can't stay without heating any longer,” he gets angry.

And if in front of the building the discontent rises, the anger and even more intense behind, where around thirty young people refuse to speak but say they are ready to go and block the neighboring RD 200.

A project for the moment postponed thanks to the intervention of adults.

"The parents and mothers went to calm them down, but the heating absolutely must be restored, otherwise it will be difficult to reason with them", warn the inhabitants.

At the town hall, it is confirmed that the heating has been turned off.

Just like the condominium contract: the energy supplier would have left by disconnecting the heating substation.

"Without warning," we sigh at City Hall.

It was therefore necessary to contact EDF to redo the necessary steps. For more than a week we have been trying to play the intermediary, while it is a private condominium, but it is complicated.

The heating restored this Thursday?

In question, according to the town hall, the alarming financial situation, an almost historic finding in this set of buildings built in the 1970s. In 2021, the structural deficit of the district was estimated at 800,000 euros.

“And it has only widened since, we slip at the town hall.

People are legitimately pissed off but this money pit doesn't make the situation any easier.

The town hall hopes that the heating can be restored this Thursday morning.

“If the subcontractor or the supplier cannot for X reasons, we will remain mobilized to resolve the situation as quickly as possible”, assures the municipality.

It remains to be understood why this building was the only one impacted in the district.

The town hall admits that it does not know.

For tenants, the message remains clear.

"If the heating is not put back tomorrow at noon (Editor's note: Thursday), we all go to the town hall", they warn.
