The artistic legacy of the great singer Fayrouz was present at the launch of the activities of the Syrian Culture Days celebration “Heritage and Creativity”, which was organized by the Directorate of Culture in cooperation with the Directorate of Education in Aleppo this evening at the Artists Syndicate Theater.

The concert, titled “Jarat al-Wadi,” included a group of artists and musicians from the Hazam band and choir, led by Maestro Ahmed Qassem, presenting many of Fayrouz’s songs as a tribute to her.

Basil Zaidan, a member of the Executive Office of the Aleppo Governorate Council, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the celebration attracts many important cultural events, and the continuation of holding cultural days is an affirmation of the ancient history of Syrian culture.

The Director of Culture, Jaber Sajur, explained that the Culture Days celebration in Aleppo includes a large number of cultural activities, such as holding book and plastic art exhibitions, showing the most important cinematic films, and musical and heritage concerts, indicating that the activities extend over ten days and meet the requirements and tastes of all segments of society.

In turn, Ahmed Qassem, leader of the Hazam Band and director of the Institute of Musical Education affiliated to the Directorate of Education in Aleppo, stated that the band includes 10 veteran musicians in addition to the choir students, pointing out their preference for presenting Fayrouz's works at the opening ceremony in honor of her and her ancient artistic legacy.

And the qanun player, Nawras Jesry, stated that the celebration consolidates original art and sends a message to the younger generations of the need to preserve beautiful art.

Sameh Shaker indicated that he presented three songs to singer Fayrouz, indicating his constant endeavor to present high-end art that contributes to linking music to society and thus raising the artistic and musical taste of the public.

Oud player Firas Ragheb said that the Culture Days celebration sheds light on young artists and connects scenes with authentic singing within a lyrical synthesis that concludes that art is an integral part of the culture of life.
