The municipality of Kirchheim is planning to redesign the open spaces at the youth center.

She is investing 260,000 euros for this.

There is good news for Boy Scouts.

Kirchheim – For the State Garden Show 2024 (LGS), the municipality of Kirchheim wants to convert the outdoor facilities of the youth center for around 260,000 euros.

Among other things, 17 parking spaces are to be created, including one for disabled people.

The Boy Scouts move onto the site in a trailer.

"There are really great open spaces that the youth center and the scouts can live with very well," said Mayor Maximilian Böltl (CSU).

After the storage areas in the JUZ reached their capacity limits due to the different users, two garages are planned as external storage.

In addition, a fixed, lockable fireplace is to be built in the open spaces, which is therefore also available to outsiders after registration.

The district office requires parking spaces

"The scouts had long expressed the desire to move to the JUZ site," said Böltl.

The community is now making that wish come true.

"In June 2017, we decided to grant an investment subsidy of 25,000 euros for a construction trailer for alternative and natural accommodation." The plans therefore also include a space for the construction trailer between the parking lots and the garages.

The scouts are to receive one of the two garages as an external storage area.

So that they can also hold their children's groups in wet and cold weather, they are to be given the previous workroom in the basement for rent.

According to Böltl, this is a good addition to the current tenants, the “Rülps” association, and the external users of the disco.

This means that the existing infrastructure in the basement with kitchen and toilets can be used.

Since the board is now to move to the premises of the fresh post office at short notice, according to the mayor it would be possible for the scouts to be able to use the board rooms in the JUZ temporarily as soon as it has moved out.

The redesign of the outdoor facilities of the JUZ should cost around 260,000 euros.

Christian Zenner (Greens) thinks it's great that there's finally a solution for the scouts.

"That's not the best solution, because they actually wanted to move into an island in the wilderness area, but the State Horticultural Show didn't want that," said Zenner.

However, it was a mystery to him why the planning required 17 parking spaces.

"At the moment there is not a single one - and that works." This is a requirement of the district office, explained the head of the building department Angela Hartinger-Hirn: "We just haven't fulfilled it so far." The municipal council decided on the conversion plans with 19:3 votes.
