The free voters in Gammelsdorf are concerned about the safety of children and athletes in traffic - and are now turning to the Ministry of Transport with their concerns.

Gammelsdorf

– In order to achieve 30 km/h in the area of the new Gammelsdorf kindergarten on Friedrichstraße, the local free voters have now sent an open letter to the Bavarian Ministry of Transport.

In his letter, local chairman Uwe Penner first explains the background: Since the spring, the new large St. Vitus kindergarten has been located directly on district road FS36, with the local sports facility next to it.

"The mayor, the municipal council, citizens and we as free voters have been trying unsuccessfully for some time to enforce a 30 km/h zone of 300 meters on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Freising district office.

Unfortunately, so far without success.” The children would have to cross the FS36 “without any safety precautions”.

"Won't wait for something to happen"

"The head of the road authority of the district office always gives excuses," complains Penner.

"It means that there is not enough traffic and the entrance to the kindergarten will be completed from the side." According to the knowledge of the Gammelsdorf FW boss, the relevant provision of the road traffic regulations is not about where the entrance to the facility is , "but that the kindergarten has to be right on the street.

He definitely does.”

Penner is combative: “We are used to being neglected by the district office in our town.

But that doesn't work at all.

We won't wait for something to happen.” Comprehensive road safety can only be guaranteed if everyone participates.

"Here, the transport system must be designed in such a way that human errors do not have serious consequences."

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

As an example that there is another way, the FW local chairman Buch am Erlbach (Landshut district) draws on.

The kindergarten there is on a state road and its entrance is on the side.

“On weekdays, the speed is limited to 30 km/h over a distance of 300 meters, which is exemplary.

The highest possible level of safety must also be achieved in Gammelsdorf on the FS36.” Uwe Penner concludes that one would therefore be happy if a representative of the ministry would come by for a site inspection.

"So that the necessary steps to implement the speed limit can finally be taken."
