Seine-et-Marne: at Restos du Coeur, volunteers are preparing for “a particularly harsh winter”

It is just noon on Tuesday when the last delivery truck arrives straight from Rungis (Val-de-Marne).

In the parking lot, five volunteers are busy unloading dozens of pallets before the opening of the 38th food distribution campaign.

At the Restos du Coeur in Meaux (Seine-et-Marne), no one really has time to breathe, and it's even worse as winter approaches.

“We finish our days later and later.

When we come back in the evening, we are sometimes exhausted,” sighs Laurent Reneux, manager of the reception center located in the Beauval district.

A former arborist-climber at Disneyland Paris, the latter dedicates nearly thirty hours a week to his voluntary work.

“After the trees, I take care of the men,” he smiles, despite his fatigue.
