At the weekend, winter set in in Bavaria and even in the lowlands.

In many places there was snow as far as the eye can see - especially in the Upper Palatinate.

Regensburg – The weather experts had predicted snow in Bavaria and they were right.

In parts of Franconia, many flakes fell from the sky, which is why there was an accident in Upper Franconia.

Truck drivers reported icy roads.

But not only in Franconia it was white, also the Upper Palatinate turned into a winter landscape in many places - the most beautiful pictures.

Thick flakes were already falling in the morning, covering meadows, houses and trees.

The snow cover was sometimes centimeters thick, snow as far as the eye could see.

Onset of winter in Bavaria: Father and son build a snowman together

Some took advantage of the winter weather and built the first snowman of the season, like a father and son in Neumarkt.

It also turned white on the autobahn, with numerous snowflakes falling on the A 93 in the Upper Palatinate.

For drivers, this meant slowing down and driving even more carefully.

Winter weather in Bavaria continues on Sunday
