A session of expanded official talks between Syria and Belarus was held today in the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, chaired by the Prime Ministers of the two countries, Eng. Hussein Arnous and Roman Golovchenko, and in the presence of the delegations of the two countries.

The two sides affirmed the joint keenness to move cooperation relations towards new horizons and strengthen them in various sectors in light of the current regional and international conditions and the common challenges facing the two countries, from terrorism to unfair unilateral economic sanctions, and to find new formulas for the development of cooperation in various sectors.

In his speech, Engineer Arnous stressed that the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Syria constitutes an important point in the course of bilateral work between the two friendly countries and an important step in terms of strengthening cooperation between them in accordance with the directives of the presidents of the two countries, President Bashar al-Assad and President Alexander Lukashenko, and in the interest of the two friendly peoples.

Engineer Arnous added that the two countries have many common denominators based on values, morals and mutual respect for the sovereignty of states and the rights of their peoples in economic, social, cultural and political development without external interference, in addition to the right of these countries to manage their resources and affairs and protect their political, economic and geographical borders in a manner that is in their national interests and in accordance with International standards and laws.

The Prime Minister affirmed Syria's keenness to enhance and expand the horizons of economic cooperation in line with the great potentials of the two countries and the joint keenness on the best possible networking and integration of the available energies between them and investing them in the interest of the two friendly peoples and in a way that rises to the level of well-established and deep-rooted relations at the political level, expressing He expressed his appreciation and thanks to the friendly Belarusian side for the supportive stances of the Syrian Arab Republic in its war against terrorism and its supporters, as well as for the humanitarian assistance it provided to the Syrian side.

Engineer Arnous pointed out that there are real opportunities to enhance and deepen cooperation in the field of bartering goods and materials and to enhance and facilitate intra-trade procedures and in the transportation sector as well as at the level of the educational sector and other sectors, expressing the Syrian government’s keenness to open investment prospects for friendly Belarusian companies to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria while providing All possible facilities for its entry into the Syrian market.

And Eng. Arnous indicated that the business sector is a vital and important partner in planning and managing cooperation relations between the two friendly countries, and the private sector in both Syria and Belarus possesses great experiences and capabilities, as this sector receives full government attention to open prospects for joint investment, whether through direct coordination through communication between men business or through partnership with government institutions in both countries.

Engineer Arnous pointed to the importance of the issue of trade exchange between the two countries, increasing it and overcoming all obstacles that might hinder the presence of the products of each country in the markets of the other country, explaining that the electric power sector is a profitable and attractive sector for investments after a series of regulatory legislations that facilitated the entry of the private investor into the sector, especially the sector Solar and wind renewable energies, calling on the leading Belarusian companies in the field of electricity to enter the Syrian market in partnership with Syrian companies for profitable investment in this sector.

For his part, Golovchenko affirmed the depth of the relations between the two countries and the confidence that they will witness great growth in the next stage, and that Syria is a strategic and important friend for his country. He expressed Belarus' interest in developing economic relations with Syria, and said that "Belarus stands by Syria in confronting terrorism and is continuing to do so." Support for Syria will not stop.

Golovchenko pointed out the importance of developing relations, especially in the economic and financial fields, indicating that the Belarusian Council of Ministers is implementing its current plan regarding trade exchange between the two countries, while the Belarusian-Syrian joint committee will work to overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of translating this into reality.

The Belarusian Prime Minister confirmed that there are new matters that his country will try to help with, especially the supply of technologies to Syria, the manufacture of cars and tractors, and the field of construction and reconstruction, pointing to the humanitarian aid provided by his country today and delivered to the Syrian Ministry of Health, including medical materials and clothing, stressing that relations between the two countries will develop and his country seeks to Developing them to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.

The two prime ministers held a bilateral discussion session during which the depth of the historical relations between the two countries was emphasized and the need to develop them and open new horizons for them in the interest of the two friendly peoples and countries and overcoming the difficulties that stand in front of them in a way that contributes to facing the challenges facing them.

Upon the arrival of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers building, he was given an official reception ceremony.
