The whole country has been under air alert since midday, local authorities are reporting several cases of strikes and power cuts.

A site of "infrastructure" in kyiv was hit on Wednesday by a bombardment, announced the mayor Vitali Klitschko, shortly after a series of explosions heard in the capital.

Three dead and three injured are also to be deplored, announced the municipal authorities, after a strike on a residential building.

“Several other explosions took place in various neighborhoods,” the mayor added shortly afterwards in a separate message.

“Rescue services and doctors are on their way to the places” affected, he said, reporting “emergency” power cuts in “certain districts” of the capital.

Andrii Sadovy, the mayor of Lviv, in the very west of the country, also announces that the city is suffering a general power cut following strikes.

“There may also be water cuts,” he announced on Telegram.

In Moldova, a country bordering south-west Ukraine, several power cuts have also been recorded.

“More than 50% of the country” is concerned, according to Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu.
